Ruth: Dia de Todos os Santos, or All Saints Day is a national holiday in Portugal. It is the day when people visit the cemetery and bring flowers to remember their departed loved ones. The cemetery in Santo Espírito was a far more colourful place than it had been on our visit two days earlier. Our rides yesterday and today have taken us over the few roads that we had not yet covered on the east side of Santa Maria. They also involved all four seasons.  Our little house up at 276 meters sits just at the cloud line. Depending on your elevation above or below that point, you can be in warm sun or pea soup fog. Yesterday we also had storm winds so our rides on ridges were wet and wild. The two rides involved 1000 meters and 870 meters of climbing, moving back and forth through different seasons. A highlight today was a hike to see some basalt columns with a small waterfall.
